I don’t often get to tour Durban much these days, it seems most of the visitors to our shores are keen to get straight into the bush to track down the “Big-5”. So this week I was pleased to be able to spend a little time in the city, from Umhlanga to Pietermaritzberg as well as Durban central. To me, Durban is one of the the most vibrant city’s in the country, whether just chilling out on the beach watching the surfers, or haggling over items at the Victoria Market, Durban is fun, friendly and exciting.
The weather played along beautifully for a trip out to PheZulu Safari Park in the “Valley of a 1000 Hill’s”, and then a bit later when viewing the Howick Falls in Howick. We even got to stop at Monteseel for a short photo opportunity, although the day was a little “hazy” , a result of high humidity which scatters the sun’s rays I later discovered, it was still a fantastic view from the top over the valley below.
We also visited Moses Mabhida Stadium before heading to Victoria Street Market. It’s been ages since I last visited that side of the city, and I have to say I missed the hustle and bustle there. The day ended with a trip to Gateway shopping center, another of my favorites and here I did do a little exploring.
All in all a week I thoroughly enjoyed and cannot wait to repeat again!
