Durban Safari, Culture and City Tours
It’s been ages since my last blog post for Country and Coastal Touring. There’s just been so much going on that I haven’t had the time to sit down and update the site! In the past I wrote about every tour we did, but these day’s it’s just impossible, I would spend all my days in front of the computer instead of exploring one of the best provinces in South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal!
Durban Safari Tours
It seems to me that the majority of visitors to South Africa come for one thing primarily, and that’s the wildlife. We’re so fortunate in KwaZulu-Natal to have a number of fantastic, world renowned wildlife reserves on our doorstep.
We’ve taken visitors to Ithala Game Reserve, Lions Valley, Hluhluwe Imfolozi, Rhino Ridge and so many more in the past few moths. Sightings of animals are just far too numerous to mention, and the birding has been almost overwhelming at times!
A memorable recent tour had us spotting the Big 5 in a morning, and the same afternoon was fortunate to witness a Leopard stalk and kill a Warthog! Definitely not something you see every day!
Durban Cultural Tours
KwaZulu-Natal is also home to a plethora of peoples, and we’ve definitely enjoyed showing visitors the cultural aspects of our province. We’ve conducted historical tours along the Freedom Trail, soaked up Zulu culture at Isithumba and been spell bound by the energetic Zulu dancing at Shakaland.
We’ve also enjoyed visits to the remains of Africa’s oldest inhabitants, the Bushman People. We’ve climbed up mountain passes, watched Baboons squabble, Eland graze and deciphered Bushman Paintings on the cave walls of the Drakensberg Mountains.
Durban City Tours
Durban is KwaZulu-Natal’s largest city and is a wonderful place to explore. We’ve visited the usual tourist stops like City Hall, Moses Mabhida Stadium and of course Victoria Market on our city tours, but we’ve also visited the Muthi Market, Cow’s Head Market and Station Market’s for a deeper insight into the lives of the Durban’s residents.
Durban Adventure Tours
Durban is considered to be South Africa’s playground, and what a playground it is! From free diving with sharks on Durban’s south coast, to swinging from the iconic arch of the Moses Mabhida Stadium, or microlighting along the fabulous coastline and mountain biking trails in the well named Valley of 1000 Hills, we’ve had adventure and fun.
