Over the last week or so, Durban has been host to the 2013 International Policewoman’s Association. I was lucky enough to be asked to conduct two tours for the ladies from Trinidad. The first tour was a Durban City Tour.

Durban City Hall

Our first stop after collecting the 40 strong group from their hotels, was the Durban City Hall. We all jumped off the bus and walked Farewell Square while I chatted to everyone about the City Hall itself. Did you know the design of the City Hall was inspired by the Belfast City Hall?

Victoria Street Market

From Farewell Gardens, we headed up to the Victoria Street Market. This was definitely a good move, these policewoman threw themselves into the market with the experience of professional shoppers!

Moses Mabhida Stadium

No Durban City Tour would be complete without a visit to the top of Moses Mabhida Stadium! Built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and finished in 2009, this stadium features a funicular car that offers the most wonderful views of Durban!

House of Curries

After the trip to the stadium, everyone had worked up quite an appetite so it was time for lunch. We headed to the House of Curries in Florida Road, and I have to say i’m glad we did. Service was great, food portions more than enough, and the the meals delicious. I had a “bunny chow” that was just perfect!

Golden Mile

After lunch it was a definite case of “magies vol, oegies toe” (stomachs full, eyes closed). We finished our day off with a tour of the Golden Mile (beachfront) and headed back to the hotels. A really nice and easy but fun day!
