1000 Hills Tourism Association AGM
It’s pretty daunting how quickly a year can just roll by, seems like we had our AGM for the 2012 period just a few weeks back; yet on Wednesday night, we met again for our 2013, 1000 Hills Tourism Association AGM. And it started in grand style at the venue; the Chef School in Bothas Hill.
The members were welcomed with a glass of Mimosa and a fantastic short show put on by the dancers of Isithumba, a new site on one of our tourism routes. From there we were invited to be seated at the very well laid out tables where both the Chairperson of the CTO (Charles Wells) and treasurer (John Little) gave their reports.
After the reports were concluded, there was a short talk by Nelisa Mshengu of Durban Toursim; and then a presentation by Embocraft. There was a short break while new board members were proposed, and then introduced to the AGM. I’ll be on the committee once again this year myself. And then it was dinner and networking.
I have a few plans for some projects I’d like to see happen over the next 12 months. In the last 12 months, I was able to push and get our new website up, as well as organise a film of the 1000 Hills area to be shot. For the future, my plans are pretty simple…
- Extend the film of our area to 4 minutes.
- Constantly evolve the website.
- Create a museum for the 1000 Hills area.
- Look into hosting a “Makers/Craft/Art fair” of some sort.
I’m also going to try be more involved in Durban Tourism and be more instrumental in the desicions made and plans put together. But we’ll see how that goes.
In the meantime though, I’m looking forward to another very productive year with the 1000 Hills CTO.
